Site redesign

There are going to be lots of changes on this site in the coming weeks, thanks mainly due to a couple of new users who requested some additional features. Their emails prompted me to take a good hard look at the site and give it a much needed revamp.

What's new:

  • A new design. I hope that you like the new look I've given the site and that it helps to make the site easier to use. There's still quite a lot of detail to finish off, so if you find any bugs, or have any suggestions, then let me know.

  • New registration system. Unfortunately the old activation system was causing problems and some users weren't receiving their activation emails due to spam filtering. I've now scrapped the activation so there is no longer any need to wait for emails to come through. As soon as you register, you'll be able to log straight in. Let's just hope that I don't get any spammers registering!

  • Additional countries. The site has been extended to allow people to list certificates from several other countries. If I've left a country off the list, that you need, then let me know and I can add it for you.

What's still to come:

  • RSS Feeds. Keep up to date with the latest certificates to be listed on the site, via an RSS feed, as well as a feed for site news and development.

  • Military records and Medal Rolls. I've been asked if the site could be extended to allow users to add military records and medal roll documents that they've also obtained but don't need. This could be a great extension to the site and I'm working on that now.

I'd really like this to be one of the most useful genealogy sites - so all suggestions for improvement are welcome!
